Microsurgical Apicoectomy

Modern Endodontics

If you live in Reno, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, or anywhere in Northern Nevada, we are the preferred choice for Microsurgical Apicoectomy.

What is a Microsurgical Apicoectomy?

Also known as root end surgery, a microsurgical apicoectomy is an endodontic procedure that involves removing a tooth’s root tip and filling the root end cavity with a biocompatible material.

As opposed to a root canal, an apicoectomy involves removing the infected tissue by accessing it from the gum underneath the tooth.

Who is a candidate for Microsurgical Apicoectomy?

Apicoectomies are usually necessary when a root canal treatment or retreatment was not successful in removing the inflamed tissue or abscess. An apicoectomy is usually the final option before a tooth must be extracted.
